Population growth has helped stimulate the regional economy and increase demand for public and private services as well as for residential construction. It has also expanded the available labour pool. Laval boasts a rich, heterogeneous culture thanks to an ethnically diverse population whose skills are well suited to a variety of industries.
Bilinguisme
Almost 5% of Quebecers live in the Laval region, which in 2008 saw its population grow by more than 1.0% for the ninth straight year.
Education
The Laval region also has a qualified labour pool to meet the demand for all types of workers. The planned construction of a new teaching complex—Cité du Savoir de Laval—by Université de Montreal will help consolidate the post-secondary education sector in the city.
