A true engine of Laval’s economic growth, since 2003 the INDUSTRIAL POLE has generated investments of over $1.3 billion, a figure that represents 33% of all industrial investment throughout the entire network of poles. As the following chart shows, investments in this traditional sector focus on building enhancement and the acquisition of equipment.

A DYNAMIC MANUFACTURING SECTOR

From 1995 to 2011, the number of companies in this area grew from 651 to 763, an increase of 17%—a positive indication of the vitality of Laval’s manufacturing sector, despite the current trend towards offshoring of production. As for the number of jobs, in the same period it grew from 11,525 to 21,290, for an 85% increase.

Since 2003, the INDUSTRIAL POLE has been responsible for close to 62% of new jobs in the Laval area, an average of 1,305 new positions per year.
